D. J. Paints

D. J. Paints is tucked into Shop No. 6 over at the Shubh Labh Complex. We are right near the Kanha Hotel, and it is also very near Kanha Hotel in the Jeevan Jyoti Colony area. It’s a good spot because people usually know where the hotel is. The shop is full of cans of all sizes. It smells like fresh paint in here most of the time, which we don’t even notice anymore. We spend a lot of our day mixing colors for customers who come in with a specific shade in mind. The Shubh Labh Complex gets quite a lot of foot traffic. We have color charts stuck to the counter that are a bit worn out from people touching them. It’s a bit messy with spills here and there, but that’s just how a paint shop is. We don’t try to act like a big corporate store. We just sell paint and give people what they need for their houses. Sometimes we have to move heavy crates around, so there’s always some noise. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling. We use a ladder to get the stuff from the top. It’s a simple life running a shop in Jeevan Jyoti Colony. We open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first customer. It’s practical work and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We have a small radio that plays local stations in the background.
