Our office is way out in Joka, near Thakurpukur. It’s a bit of a trek if you're coming from the center of Kolkata, but we like it out here. We are located in the village area, right by the post office. Most of our work involves the local properties in the South 24 Parganas district. It’s a lot of land talk and checking on building sites. The office doesn't look like much from the outside, but we have everything we need to run things. We deal with the credit and property side of the Belani projects. Sometimes the local kids are playing outside the window, and you can hear the birds because it's not as noisy as the city. We spend our mornings going through records and our afternoons often involve walking out to the sites to see how things are looking. It's a simple operation. We don't have fancy uniforms or big corporate signs everywhere. People in Joka know where the post office is, so they find us easily enough. We’ve been part of this community for a while now. Dealing with property here means you have to understand the local ways of doing things. We just try to keep the paperwork moving so people can get into their homes. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with the main office, but we handle the local stuff here on the ground. We just keep our heads down and do the work that is required.
