Datta Electronics

Our place is tucked away on the first floor of Plot No 93 along Kulpi Road. You might miss it if you aren't looking, but Datta Electronics is right in Puratan Bazar. If you see the Netaji Statue, then you are basically there. Just look up and you’ll see our window. The stairs are a bit narrow and sometimes they get crowded on market days when everyone is out buying groceries and stuff. Inside, the shop is full of wires, circuit boards, and old television parts. My dad started this place years ago, and I just sort of stayed on to help keep things running. We spend most of our time hunched over a soldering iron or checking connections. It’s noisy outside because of the traffic on Kulpi Road, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. Some people come in just to ask questions or get a small part for their radio. We try to help out even if it’s just a two-minute chat. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving while we work. It’s a simple life here in the bazar. We don’t do much advertising because people usually just hear about us from their cousins or neighbors. We're usually here until the market starts to quiet down in the evening and we pack up for the day.
