Ratan Industry

Over at No. 126 Nimta, we run a small industrial operation. It is more of a workshop than a big factory. There is always the sound of metal or machinery running in the background. We don't have a fancy office with carpets. The floor is concrete and there is usually some scrap material lying around. We spend our time making things and making sure the orders are ready on time. It is a lot of physical labor. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them with greasy hands. My clothes are rarely clean by the end of the shift. Nimta is a good place for this kind of work because there are other small industries nearby. We help each other with tools or advice when something goes wrong. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is what we know. We have a small crew and everyone knows their role. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high and the heat becomes a problem. There is a lot of pride in seeing a finished product loaded onto a truck after a long week of work. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make things. The address is 126 and the gate is usually open. You can hear the work happening from the street. It’s just steady, daily progress on the shop floor.
