You can find Nisika Furnico on Durga Bari Road, not too far from the police station. Our shop is filled with all sorts of things for the home, mostly furniture like sofas, beds, and tables. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting everything inside sometimes. We spend a lot of time moving things around to make space for new stock that arrives. Durga Bari Road is a busy street, and being near the police station means there’s always people moving about outside. We aren't a corporate chain; we’re just a local business trying to provide decent furniture to the people around here. Some days we spend hours just polishing the wood or tightening bolts on a display piece. It’s not always busy. There are times when we just sit and watch the traffic go by, waiting for someone to walk in and try out a mattress. We try to be helpful when people ask questions, but we don't go for the hard sell. If a sofa is comfortable, it usually sells itself. We’ve learned a lot about what people like over the years we’ve been here. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when we have to load a heavy cabinet onto a rickshaw or a truck for delivery. But it keeps us active. It’s just a normal day-to-day life for us here in the shop, surrounded by wood and fabric. We just open up and see what the day brings.
