Jhk Handloom & Textile Producer Company Limited is located over in Bhawanipur, Barpeta. Our address is 126 Haripur, and we operate out of Kishore Kumar Medhi’s place. It’s a pretty straightforward setup in a residential area. We don't have a flashy storefront or anything that would catch your eye from the road. Most of what we do is centered around the textiles and handloom production. Kishore Kumar Medhi has been a big part of getting this started. The work involves a lot of sitting and focusing on the threads, which can be tiring for the eyes. We have several people from Haripur and the surrounding parts of Bhawanipur who come in to help. It’s not like a corporate job where everyone wears suits. We’re usually covered in bits of lint and thread. The building is a bit old, but it serves our purposes well enough. We don't really have a big budget for decorations or marketing. We just put our effort into the actual weaving. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common in Barpeta, and we just have to wait it out or work by the light from the windows. It’s a slow process, making textiles by hand, but there’s a certain rhythm to it that we all like. We’re just trying to run a steady business and make sure the people here have work to do.
