Aarti Trading

You can find Aarti Trading over on Barpeta Road, in Ward No. 4. We are pretty close to Kalhabhanga High School, so we get to hear the school bell and the kids playing every afternoon. It’s a busy little corner of the world. We’ve been here for a while, dealing with various goods and supplies. The shop—or office, depending on how you look at it—is usually filled with boxes and ledgers. We don't really bother with much decoration. Most of our customers are local people we've known for years. We trade in things that people actually need, nothing too fancy. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit backed up and it’s hard to move around, but we manage. My family has been in this area for a long time, so setting up here felt like the natural thing to do. We don't have a website or anything like that. Most of our business happens face-to-face or over a quick phone call. It’s a simple way of living. We try to be fair and just get through the day without too much trouble. The heat can be a bit much in the summer, but we keep the fans going and just keep working. It’s not a big operation, just us and a few helpers who have been with us forever. It feels like home more than a workplace. We are just local folks trying to run a decent business and stay involved with the community around Barpeta Road.
