Standard Combine

We have been sitting here at Standard Chowk on Bathinda Road for quite a while now. It is a busy spot and you can always hear the traffic moving towards the main city. Most days start early for us when the sun is just coming up. We deal with combine parts and machinery stuff mostly. It gets dusty out here because of all the vehicles passing by but that is just how it is. We know most of the guys who drive the big trucks around this part of Bathinda. Sometimes they stop for a chat even if they don't need anything fixed right then. My father started things here and I just kept it going because it’s what we know. The building isn't fancy, just some brick and a heavy shutter that gets stuck sometimes in the monsoon. We have a couple of old chairs inside for whoever is waiting. It gets hot in the summer, really hot, but we have a small fan that does its job. People find us easily because everyone knows the chowk. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth usually brings folks in from the nearby villages. We just try to get the work done so the farmers can get back to their fields. There is always a pile of scrap metal in the corner that we mean to clear out but never quite get to it. It is a simple life here on the road and we like it.
