Delhi Cloth Emporium

If you head down to Sadar Bazar near Bhagat Singh Chowk, you will find us at Delhi Cloth Emporium. This whole area is always moving, with people everywhere and carts being pushed through the narrow lanes all the time. Our shop is right in the middle of all that noise and action. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks and stacks of different fabrics piled up from the floor way up to the ceiling. We spend our days unrolling cloth, measuring out meters for people, and then trying to fold everything back up again. It is a lot of work to keep the shelves from looking like a total mess, especially when it’s a busy Saturday afternoon. The air usually smells a bit like new cotton and maybe some tea from the little stall next door. We have been here at this location for a long time, so these walls have seen a lot of different people come and go. There is no air conditioning, just a few old ceiling fans that hum all day long to keep the air moving. You’ll usually see a few of us sitting on the floor or on low stools while we talk to people about what they are looking for. It is not a modern showroom with fancy lights or anything, just a regular cloth shop where we do our business. Sometimes the power goes out and we just keep working by the light from the street. That is just how life is for us here in the market.
