Mata Sahib Kaur Girls College

Located on an unnamed road in Ludhiana, this college for girls is a pretty quiet spot. The pin code is 148104 if you're trying to find us on a map. It’s not in the middle of the city noise, which is nice for the students who come here to study. We see girls arriving from the nearby villages and the edges of Ludhiana every morning. Most of them are quite focused on their books. The building is a bit older, with some cracks in the plaster here and there, but it holds up. We have a courtyard where everyone gathers when the sun is out during the winter months. My job usually involves sitting in the administrative office dealing with the registers and talking to parents who come in with questions. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have fancy lounges or high-tech gadgets everywhere. It’s just classrooms, a library that could use some more books, and a lot of stairs. Sometimes the water pump acts up, and we have to get someone to fix it. We don't put on a show for anyone. It's a place for education, plain and simple. The girls study hard, they take their exams, and we help them with the paperwork. It feels like a small community where everyone knows who is who. We just keep things running as best as we can every day for the students.
