About B.I.D. Rice Mills – Food & Beverages in Barnala
B.I.D. Rice Mills sits right along the G.T. Road at Tapa Mandi. Being on the main highway means there is always traffic passing by, which makes the yard a bit of a squeeze when the big lorries are coming and going. The building itself is an older structure made of brick and tin sheets. Inside, it stays pretty dim even during the middle of the day. We deal with a lot of volume here because of our location near the mandi. You can hear the rhythmic clanking of the elevators from quite a distance away. The staff here is mostly local guys who have been working around grain since they were kids. We don't really bother with fancy decorations or making the place look like a corporate office. It's a working mill, so there are piles of stones and broken husks in the corners. On Tapa Mandi market days, things get even more chaotic with people shouting over the noise of the engines. We just try to keep the flow going so nobody is waiting too long at the gates. The G.T. Road is always busy, and we are just another part of that industrial stretch. Some days the humidity makes the grain stick to the sieves, and we have to stop everything to clear it out. It is just the usual headaches of running a mill in this part of the country. We keep going until the last bag is loaded.
