Our place, G. D. Textiles, is tucked away on Rai Colony Road. We’ve been dealing with fabrics for quite a while now. It’s a dusty job sometimes, especially when we’re moving big rolls of cloth around the warehouse. We aren't fancy. Most of the time, the floor is covered in threads and scraps of material. That’s just the nature of the business. Rai Colony Road isn't the busiest street, but we like it that way because it gives us room to load and unload our supplies without too much trouble. We get all kinds of people coming in, from neighbors looking for a bit of cloth to repair something to folks who need more. We don't have a website or anything like that, we just handle things face to face. If the door is open, we’re working. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and other times it’s dead quiet. We just take it as it comes. It's a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually someone around who knows where everything is kept. We don't use fancy computer systems to track everything; we mostly just remember where we put the different colors and types of textile. It works for us. We’ve been here long enough that most people in the area know what we do. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning until we lock up at night.
