Shop Keeper

Our shop is located in Satkosia, which is a part of Tehsil Karanjia in the Mayurbhanj district. We are positioned right near the State Bank of India. It’s a central spot for people who are coming into the village to do their banking or handle other errands. We sell a little bit of everything in this store. The building we are in is quite an old one, and it can get a bit drafty inside when the wind starts to pick up. We spend most of our working hours just trying to keep the inventory in some kind of order. It is a lot of work to make sure we do not run out of the basic things people need every day. Being in Mayurbhanj, we experience all kinds of weather, and the rainy season can be very intense. The shop floor often gets a bit muddy when people come in directly from the wet street. We do not have any fancy signs or big advertisements to bring people in. Most folks just know where we are. Many of our customers come from the nearby villages and they usually visit once a week to stock up on their supplies. We know almost all of them by their names. It is a very simple way to earn a living. We do not have a big team, just a few family members who help out with the daily tasks. Some days are slower than others.
