Down in Barhaj, specifically in the Kaparwarramaipur Tola area, that’s where you will find us. Rambha Devi is the one who helps manage things at the site. This company, Vikasshil Kisan, is really just a bunch of us from the Tola trying to make a go of it together. We are not big business people with fancy cars. We are just folks who know about krishi and the land we walk on. It is a dusty part of the world, especially when the winds pick up in the dry season. We spend our mornings checking on the crops and our afternoons sitting together talking about the rising costs of everything. It is a simple setup we have going. No one wears a tie here. We are mostly in our working clothes, ready to get into the dirt if the job needs it. The Barhaj area has good soil, but you really have to work it hard to get anything back. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just want to make sure the harvest is good enough and that we can look after our families. Some days the cows get into the fields and we have to chase them out, and other days the tractor just won't start no matter what we do. It is just normal life for us here. We help each other out when someone falls behind. That is the only way to get by in this business.
