Burla is a quiet place most of the time but this medical college and hospital keeps things moving. We’re located right in Burla and the campus is actually quite big if you try to walk the whole thing in one go. It’s an old institution and you can see that in the architecture of the older wings. There are always people around whether it’s the doctors on their night shifts or the students heading to a lecture in the morning. The hospital part stays full and we have rows of beds that rarely stay empty for very long. It’s a lot to manage and sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks in the administrative office. We have different departments spread out across the grounds so you see people walking back and forth between the buildings all day. The trees on the campus provide some shade but it still gets quite hot during the summer months. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations or trying to impress anyone with big words. Most of the people working here are just trying to get through their shifts and help the folks who’ve traveled from far away to get treatment. It’s a heavy responsibility but it’s just the way life is here in Burla. You get used to the smell of the place and the constant hum of activity that never really stops even in the middle of the night when everything else is dark.
