Ussat Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in Kamsara, which is a part of Tarbha. Laxmi Narayan Panda’s place serves as our main office. It’s a very simple setup. We don't have any staff in uniforms or anything like that. It’s just us farmers trying to organize ourselves a bit better. We realized that if we pooled our resources, we could get better prices for things like seeds and tools. We also have a better chance when we sell our crops together. It’s not about making a huge profit. It’s just about making sure we can keep going next year. We talk about the usual things, like the lack of rain or the price of diesel. Tarbha is a quiet place and we like to keep it that way. We don't spend money on marketing because everyone in the village knows who we are and where to find us. We keep our records by hand mostly and try to stay on top of the rules. It’s a very grounded way to run a business. We don't have a big vision for the future, we just want to have a successful harvest and keep the community strong. If you come by Laxmi’s place, you’ll see us just being regular people. We are more comfortable out in the fields than sitting in an office. That’s just the way it is for us in Kamsara. It’s hard work but it’s what we know.
