Jhiliminda Traditional Handloom Weavers Producer Company Limited is located in the village of Jhiliminda, specifically at Harilal Meher’s house. This is in the Remunda area. Being a weavers’ producer company in a place like this means our work is very closely tied to the community. We don’t have a modern office building or anything like that. Our work happens right where we live and breathe. You’ll find looms and traditional weaving tools all around. The atmosphere is very different from a city office. It’s more about the smell of the yarn and the sound of the weaving. We spend our days coordinating with the different weavers in the village to see what they’ve finished and what they need next. It’s a very grounded way of doing business. Harilal Meher’s place is the hub where we all gather to talk and plan. We don’t have any fancy marketing slogans or big corporate plans. We just want to keep the tradition of handloom going in Jhiliminda. It’s hard work and it takes a lot of time, but it’s what we know. The pace is a bit slower here than in the big cities, but there is always something to be done. We just take it one day at a time and focus on the weaving that needs to be finished.
