Universalbook House

We are over at Plot No- 19 in the City Palace building. This is in the D.D.Puram area, specifically within Izzat Nagar. The shop is called Universalbook House. It sounds like a very big and grand name, but it’s actually a pretty modest and simple place when you walk inside. We have books piled up from the floor almost to the ceiling in some of the back sections. It can be a bit hard to move around if you're carrying a big bag or if there are more than three people in the aisle. We mostly deal with educational books for the local colleges, but we have some novels and magazines too. I’ve been working here since I finished my own schooling. It’s a family business through and through. We don't use air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum and rattle all day long. Customers come in looking for very specific titles, and sometimes we have to dig through the old stacks to find exactly what they need. It’s not perfectly organized like a library, but that's just how we do things. We know our inventory better than a computer would. The street outside is usually very busy with scooters and cars. We stay open until the evening time. We don't do any fancy marketing or posters. People just know us because we've been here. It’s a community spot more than anything else. We just sell books and try to stay helpful.
