We run our music classes here on Pilibhit Road, right near the degree college. It's not a big fancy place, just a few rooms where we keep the instruments and sit with the students. Most days, you can hear someone practicing the harmonium or trying to get the rhythm right on the tabla. It gets a bit loud when everyone is here at once, but we manage. S A Agarwal is our contact person at this spot. We started this because we liked music and figured we could help local kids learn something beyond their school books. The road outside stays pretty busy with students from the college walking back and forth. Sometimes they stop by just to see what the noise is about. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know a bit about singing and playing. We spend a lot of time just tuning instruments or cleaning up the floor after the morning session. It’s a simple setup. We don’t do much advertising, mostly just people in the neighborhood telling each other about us. We’ve been here for a while now, and the walls are starting to show some wear, but it feels like home to us. We just keep the doors open and see who wants to come in and sing. It’s a practical way to spend the day, and we like being part of the local scene here in this part of town.
