Era Radios

Era Radios is over on Stadium Road. We're right near Khaitan Hospital, across from Prakash Hospital. It’s a busy spot with all the traffic. Sometimes it’s hard to find parking, but we’re here. Inside, it smells like solder and old dust. We’ve got shelves full of things people don't use much anymore, but some folks still love their old sets. I spend a lot of time sitting at the back bench. The light isn't great, but I know where every tool is. People come in looking for parts for things their grandfathers owned. We do what we can. It’s not a fast business. You can't rush these things. Sometimes a repair takes a day, sometimes a week if we’re waiting on a piece to arrive in the mail. My brother used to help, but now it’s mostly just me and a kid who comes in after school to sweep up. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just like fixing stuff that breaks. The stadium crowd gets loud on weekends, which makes for a nice change. I've been at P-5/9 for longer than I can remember. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun. If you pass the hospitals, you've gone too far. It's just a small shop with a lot of history packed into the corners. We don't mind if people just stop by to chat about the old days. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon.
