Nidhibali

Working out of 16 Kesar Bhavan near the Kacheri in Civil Lines is interesting because of all the activity. Bareilly is a city that has its own pace, and being near the court means there are always people rushing around with papers and files. My name is Nidhibali and I’ve been in this building for a good while. Kesar Bhavan is an older structure, it has that specific smell of old bricks and paper. It’s not one of those new glass buildings you see popping up elsewhere. I prefer it this way. My office is just a room with a desk and some old wooden chairs. It’s where I stay busy most of the day. The tea man outside makes a very strong cup which helps when the afternoons get long. Sometimes the noise from the street is a bit much, especially when there’s a crowd at the Kacheri, but you stop noticing after a few months. I don’t have any fancy brochures or a marketing person. Most of my work comes from people just stopping by or knowing me from around the neighborhood. Civil Lines is a decent area to be in. It’s central enough that most people can find it without too much trouble. I just try to keep things organized and do my bit. It’s a straightforward life here, no need to make it seem like more than it is. I just come in and do what needs to be done.
