Kamal Rice Mill

Our mill is located in Ward No 14 on Gautiya Road in Dhaura. If you are looking for us, we are right near the Kamal Masjid in Bareilly. It’s a busy little neighborhood. You can hear the call to prayer from the mosque five times a day, which sort of marks the time for us as we work. Kamal Rice Mill is where we spend our long days. It’s a functional place, meant for work, not for showing off. The floors are dusty with rice flour and the machinery is old but reliable. We have a small crew of workers who have been with us for a long time. We eat our lunch together in the corner where it’s a bit quieter. In the winter, the morning fog in Bareilly is so thick you can barely see the gate from the mill door. We start the day early with some hot tea and get the engines humming. There’s no corporate talk here; we just speak plain Hindi or whatever comes naturally. We know the farmers who bring their grain to us and we know the local people who come to buy a bag or two. It’s a community thing. The walls have seen better days and the gate squeaks every time it opens, but that’s just how it is. We are part of the daily life here in Dhaura and we like it that way.
