Iris Hospital

Being over here at 569 Civil Lines means we are right in the middle of everything, especially with the Sabzi Mandi so close by. You can hear the market starting up early in the morning while we are finishing the night shift. Iris Hospital has been part of this city scene for a bit. It’s a practical sort of place. We don’t go in for anything flashy. The walls are a bit plain, and the waiting area gets crowded on Monday mornings. That’s just how it goes when you’re near the mandi. People come in after doing their vegetable shopping or before they head to work. We’ve got different departments, so one minute we’re looking at a broken arm and the next it’s someone with a bad fever. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we know the local shortcuts and which tea stall is open late. It gets a bit loud outside with the trucks and the shouting from the market, but inside we try to keep things focused on the medical work. We have the usual machines and pharmacy stuff you’d expect. Some days it feels like we’re just a small part of the city’s noise, but then a patient leaves feeling better and it reminds you why we keep the doors open. It’s a lot of work, staying on top of the cleaning and the schedules, but it’s what we do here in Civil Lines every single day.
