Baba Handloom Producer Company Limited is based in Rasoolpur Jahangeer. We are right near the Masjid Ke Pas in the Nawabganj area. It’s a place where the sound of handlooms is quite common. We work with weavers who have been doing this for generations. Our building at R/250 is usually filled with the smell of cotton and dye. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have wooden looms and stacks of finished cloth everywhere. Sometimes it’s hard to walk through the room without tripping over a bundle of yarn. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy brochures. We just show people the cloth we make. The work is slow and takes a lot of patience. If a thread breaks, you have to stop and fix it right then or the whole piece is ruined. We spend our days coordinating with the different families who do the weaving. It’s a lot of talking and checking on the progress of the orders. Nawabganj is a place where everyone knows everyone else. We like being part of the local scene. Sometimes we have to wait for a long time for the raw materials to arrive because the trucks get stuck on the old roads. We just use that time to clean the looms or organize the store room. It’s practical work that doesn’t need much explaining. We just keep the looms moving and try to stay busy.
