Alka Memorial Cancer Foundation

This foundation is located right inside the Regional Hospital premises in Bareilly. Specifically, you can find us at C/O Devendra Prasad, near Vaidya Arvind Nagar. Being in a hospital setting means things are always moving and it can get quite serious around here. We set up the Alka Memorial Cancer Foundation here because this is where the people are. It’s not a separate glass building or anything; it’s just a space we use within the hospital grounds. Bareilly is a place where people come from all over the surrounding villages, so we see a lot of different faces every day. Devendra Prasad’s office is a good landmark if you are trying to find the exact room. We don’t have shiny brochures or a big reception desk. It is more about sitting on the plastic chairs and talking to families who are going through a tough time. It’s a quiet corner in a loud hospital. We mostly focus on the paperwork and helping people figure out where they need to go next for their health stuff. Sometimes it’s just about being a familiar face in the hallway. We have been in this spot for a while, and the staff at the hospital all know where we sit. It’s a very basic setup, but it serves the purpose. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just work that needs doing in a place that needs it. Every day is different and we just handle what comes.
