Jai Ambe Hardware

We are located out in Kani Talwa, which is near Mahuva in the Surat district. Being at the post means we’re a bit of a hub for the local village area. Jai Ambe Hardware isn't a big city store; it’s a place where you can find the tools and parts you need for your farm or house. The shop is full of things hanging from the ceiling and piled on the floor. It can be hard to find things if you don't know the layout, but we know exactly where every bolt and hammer is kept. The air here is cleaner than in the city, but it gets very dusty when the tractors drive by. We have a bench outside where the older men from the village sit and talk while we work. It’s a slow-paced life here, and we like it. We don't have a computer for billing; we just use a ledger and a pen like we always have. Sometimes people come in just to borrow a tool or ask for advice on fixing a pump. We don't mind. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. The building is old and the tiles are a bit cracked, but it’s sturdy. We open up early because the farmers start their day before the sun is even up, and we want to be there if they need anything for their day's work.
