Out in Memari, specifically in the village of Nagapara, life moves a bit differently than it does in the big city. Subhas Project & Marketing Ltd. has been operating out of this part of Burdwan for a good while now. Our address is right in the village, near the post office, which makes things easy for getting our mail, even if the roads get a bit muddy during the monsoon season. We handle various projects and marketing tasks, which basically means we spend a lot of time talking to people and moving goods around. It’s a rural setting, so you have to be ready for anything, like a tractor blocking the path or a sudden rainstorm stopping work for an hour or two. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or leather chairs in our office. We have wooden desks and a lot of registers that we fill out by hand most of the time. The people working here are all from the nearby areas, so we all know each other’s families and how we like our tea brewed. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to make sure the projects we take on get done properly and that the marketing side of things stays steady for everyone involved. It’s a quiet kind of life compared to the chaos of Kolkata, but there is always plenty of work to do if you’re looking for it and aren't afraid to get your hands a little dirty.
