Down in Putunda, Saktigarh, in the Burdwan district of West Bengal, you’ll find our site office. Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. has a presence here to manage the local work. It’s a bit different from the big city offices. Here, things feel a little more connected to the land. The office is at the end of a long road, and we get quite a bit of dust coming in from the nearby tracks. We have a small team, just a handful of us handling the paperwork and the site visits. We spend most of our time out in the field, so the office is often empty except for one person answering the phone. It’s a quiet place for the most part, unless a big delivery is coming through. We eat our lunch together and talk about our families or the local cricket scores. There’s nothing fancy about how we operate. We have some old wooden desks and a few chairs that have seen better days. But it works for us. We focus on the daily tasks, like checking the inventory and making sure the staff schedules are correct. It’s practical work. We don't have a website or a social media manager. If someone needs us, they just drive down and knock on the door. It’s been that way for a while now and we don't see any reason to change it.
