Roman Tarmat Ltd

Our office is located at 2/35 Newton Avenue, right in the B-Zone of Durgapur. It’s an area with a lot of history, and it feels like a solid place to be for a construction company like Roman Tarmat. We focus on big projects like roads and highways, but this office is where all the boring stuff happens, like the billing and the scheduling. We have a few rooms filled with filing cabinets and large tables where we spread out the site maps. Durgapur is an industrial city through and through, so there’s always a bit of dust and the sound of distant machinery. The staff here is small. We’ve got a couple of engineers who are always coming and going from the sites and a few of us who stay behind to handle the phones. The furniture is mostly wooden and looks like it’s been there since the eighties. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the walls, just some old calendars and maybe a few photos from past projects. When it rains in West Bengal, it really pours, and we often find ourselves stuck in the office watching the water run down Newton Avenue. We drink a lot of tea and try to keep the paperwork moving so the guys on the road don't run into any trouble. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do. We’ve been here for years and everyone in the zone knows where to find us.
