This branch of Premco Rail Engineers Limited is located at 155/C Rly Traffic Colony in Burdwan. Being right in the traffic colony makes a lot of sense because we are all about the railway engineering stuff, mostly. West Bengal has a huge rail network and we are just one part of the maintenance and engineering side of things. It’s a lot of track work and structural inspections that people don't really think about much when they are riding the train. We have a lot of tools and equipment stored here for the local jobs. The office is usually a bit chaotic with people coming and going from different sites along the line. We don't have much of a corporate feel here, just a bunch of engineers and workers who know their way around a rail bed. Burdwan is a busy hub, so there is always something that needs fixing or upgrading. The weather can be really hot and humid, which makes the outdoor work tough, but the guys are used to it by now, I suppose. We spend our days looking at blueprints and then going out to see how they match up with the real tracks. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s necessary to keep things moving along. We’ve been at this location for a while and the locals know us. We just try to get the job done right so the trains can keep running. It is what it is.
