Out here in Village Debibarpur, things move at a different pace. We are located at Post Shyamsundar in the Burdwan taluka area. It’s mostly fields and open space around us. At John Deere India Pvt Ltd, we spend a lot of time dealing with the practical side of things. The yard is usually full of equipment and parts. It gets dusty when the wind picks up, which is basically all the time. People from the nearby villages come through quite often. Our office isn’t much to look at, just a functional space with a few desks and a very old ceiling fan that makes a clicking sound. We start early in the morning when the air is still cool. By midday, it gets pretty hot under the tin roof. We deal with whatever comes our way, whether it is a delivery or someone looking for a specific part for their machine. It’s hard work, but it feels right being out here where the actual farming happens. We don’t have fancy coffee machines, just a thermos that someone brings from home. The road leading up to the site can be a bit rough during the monsoon, so we spend some time fixing puddles. It is just how things are in this part of the country. We keep things simple and focus on the day-to-day tasks without any fuss. The sound of engines is just part of our morning now, and we just keep the work going.
