We set up shop at Plot No 45 in Block-A over at Battala Chowk. It’s right in Raja Bazar, very near the main road. We trade in various supplies that builders and local homeowners need for their work. It’s a dusty spot because we move a lot of heavy bags and materials in and out of the yard. The gate is usually open early in the morning so the trucks can back in. I spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or checking the stock levels. We don't have a fancy office, just a small room with a fan and a desk where we do the billing. It gets hot in the afternoons, but that’s the way it is in Raja Bazar. We’ve been at this location for a good while, and most of the contractors around here know us. We don't do much in the way of advertising because word of mouth usually keeps us busy enough. Sometimes we are short-handed and I have to help load the bags myself. It’s hard work, but it keeps the business running. We aren't a corporate giant, just a local trading outfit trying to provide what’s needed for the local construction projects. We try to be fair and keep our word. Dealing with the traffic on the main road is the hardest part of the day, but we manage somehow.
