This is the side of Graphite India Limited that operates near the ABL Township in Durgapur. Our specific spot is Qtr. No. Lr-163. Being in a township is a bit different from a regular city office. It feels more like a community. Everyone knows everyone else. We are in the Burdwan district of West Bengal. The work we do here is tied closely to the Durgapur Plant. It’s a lot of monitoring and making sure the plant operations have what they need from the administrative side. The quarters are old but sturdy. We have set up a working space inside one of them. It’s a bit cramped with all the files and the computer equipment. You can hear the sounds of the town outside—kids playing or people going to the market. We have lived and worked in this area for many years. The pace is different here. It’s professional but in a very local, grounded way. We deal with the challenges of the plant every day. Sometimes there are power cuts or logistical delays that we have to sort out. It’s just part of the life here. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just focus on the graphite production support and keeping the records straight for the Burdwan office. It’s a practical life for a practical business. In the evenings, the lights of the plant glow in the distance. We usually sit outside for a bit before finishing up the final reports for the night shift. It’s a solid job and we’re glad to be a part of it.
