Gokul Krishna Dey & Gkd Engineering Works

Our workshop is located in Nutanganj, which is very close to Burdwan University. In fact, we are right in that Nutanganj area where the streets are narrow and always full of people. We’ve been doing engineering work here for quite a long time. The shop is filled with lathes, welding machines, and piles of scrap metal that we might need one day. It’s a bit of a mess to an outsider, but we know exactly where every tool is kept. The sound of grinding metal is something that fills the air from morning until evening. We get a lot of students and staff from the university walking past our door every day. Sometimes they peek in to see what we are building. We take on all sorts of repair jobs and custom metal work. It’s a dirty job, and our hands are always stained with grease and iron dust. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come to the back where the noise is and tell us what they need fixed. We sit on old wooden stools and drink tea while we figure out the best way to weld a piece or turn a part. It’s a solid, old-fashioned way of working. Nutanganj is our home, and we like being part of the hustle and bustle of this part of Burdwan.
