General Stores

Our store is on A. R. Road in Raniganj. It’s a basic general store where we keep a bit of everything that people might need. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. It’s not one of those modern supermarkets with bright lights and matching uniforms. We just have shelves full of stuff and a counter where we sit. Most of our customers are people who live in the neighborhood and stop by on their way home. We know most of them by name. Raniganj is a busy place, and A. R. Road gets quite a bit of foot traffic. We open up early in the morning and stay open until the sun goes down. It’s just a couple of us working here, making sure the shelves are stocked and the floors are swept. We don't have a big management team or any marketing strategy. We just sell what people ask for. If we don’t have something, we try to get it for next time. It’s a very simple way of doing business. Sometimes the rain gets inside if the wind is blowing the wrong way, and we have to move things around. That’s just part of being in an older building. We don’t have a website or a social media page. If you want something, you just come to the shop on A. R. Road. It’s honest work and it keeps us going. There's always something to do, whether it's counting stock or talking to the delivery drivers.
