Down in Sukantapally, near Hostel More, you’ll find our Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd branch. We are tucked away in Burnpur, in the Burdwan district. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the big cities, which suits us just fine. The office is a simple setup where we handle all the regional construction and engineering stuff. There are usually a couple of motorbikes parked out front and the smell of nearby cooking drifting in through the windows. Being part of this community for quite a while now has been good. Our day usually starts with a quick meeting to see where the various sites are at. It’s not a high-pressure corporate environment, but we do have plenty to do. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we end up doing things the old-fashioned way on paper. Most of the staff here are locals from West Bengal. We know the area well and how the weather affects the work. There aren't any fancy mission statements on the walls. It’s just a place where people show up to work and get things built. If you need us, we’re usually here until late in the evening. The filing cabinets are a bit rusty, and the chairs squeak, but it works for us. Everyone focuses on the job at hand and tries to keep things moving along as best as we can without complaining.
