Dongfang Electric Corporation

Out here in Kulti, things move at their own pace. Our place is on Sripur Road, on the east side, right here in the Burdwan district. Being an electric corporation sounds big, but for us on the ground, it’s about the daily grind of making sure things are running the way they should. The office isn’t hard to find if you know where the post office is. We’ve got a mix of people working here, some who have been in West Bengal their whole lives and some who came for the work. It gets quite hot in the summers, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early in the day. The building is functional, nothing too modern, just a lot of desks and papers and people talking about power projects. We deal with a lot of technical stuff every day, which keeps everyone busy. You can usually hear the sound of the road outside and the occasional bird in the trees nearby. We don’t have much time for corporate talk or big meetings that go nowhere. Mostly, we just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay on top of the schedule. It’s a practical environment where the main goal is just to do the job right and head home. We like being part of the Kulti community and seeing how the area changes over the years while we continue our work.
