Agarwal Traders

Agarwal Traders is located in the Panagarh area, within the Burdwan district. We are right by the Kanksa police station, which makes it an easy landmark for people to find. It’s a trading business, mostly dealing with local goods that come in from the nearby farms. We’ve been here for a while, and the place isn't anything special to look at. It's just a sturdy warehouse and a small wooden desk where we keep our accounts and papers. We get deliveries from the surrounding villages throughout the week and then we work on sending them out to the bigger buyers. It’s a lot of physical labor, loading and unloading trucks in the heat. The weather in Burdwan can get very hot in the summer, so we try to do all the heavy lifting early in the morning before it gets too bad. We are just local people working here. We don't use much technology at all, just a basic mobile phone and some paper ledgers to keep track of everything. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works perfectly for us. We know most of the farmers and the truck drivers in Panagarh. It’s a very tight community where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We don't have a big corporate plan. We just want to make sure the work gets done and we can go home to our families. It is a quiet life focused on the daily market prices.
