Maa Traders

Shop No. 6 at the Barbil Bus Stand is where we are. It’s a small place, but being right by the Keonjhar bus stand means there is always something happening. Maa Traders has been in this little corner for a good bit of time. You can hear the buses pulling in and the conductors shouting all day long. It gets quite dusty with all the traffic, so we are always wiping down the counters. We sell a bit of everything that people in this area need. It’s not a big supermarket or anything like that. Just a shop where you can stop by while waiting for your ride. Sometimes people just come in to escape the sun for a minute. We know most of the drivers and the regulars who commute through here. It gets crowded on market days. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you want to talk to us, you just come to the bus stand and look for the sign. The roof leaks a little when it pours, but we put a bucket under it and keep going. My younger brother helps me out in the afternoons when he is not busy. We keep the accounts in a thick red book. It’s a simple life, being part of the noise and the movement of the town. We open early in the morning before the first bus leaves and stay until the last one pulls out at night. It is a noisy but good life here.
