Shiv Building Material Store

Budhana Road is always dusty because of all the trucks. Our store, Shiv Building Material Store, is right on the main road, not far from the Ambuja cement place. It’s a loud spot but good for business because everyone passes by. We spend the day loading bags of cement and sand. My shirt is usually covered in white dust by noon. It’s just how the building material business works. We have a small yard where we keep the bricks and pipes. Sometimes the traffic gets backed up right in front of us, and drivers lean on their horns. You get used to the noise after a while. We started this place because people were building more houses around here and they needed a local spot to get their stuff. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just drive their tractors or small trucks right up to the front. We talk about the weather and the price of diesel while we work. It’s honest work. Sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the next delivery, but we try to keep the basics in stock. My nephew helps me out with the heavy lifting. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoon, so we sit in the shade of the awning when we can. It’s just us doing our thing on the main road. We see the same faces every week and it feels like a little community here by the roadside.
