Rishabh Trading Company

Rishabh Trading Company is right in the middle of Lohiya Bazar. If you know the market, you know it can be a real scramble with all the carts and people. We have a modest shop where we trade various goods. There isn't a specific theme to everything we sell; it depends on what's available and what people are asking for. The shop has high ceilings but the walls are covered with shelves from top to bottom. We use a wooden ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It’s just how things are done here in the bazaar. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that struggle in the summer. We spend a lot of time talking to other traders and drinking tea. That’s how most of our business happens—through word of mouth and long relationships. We don't use computers much, mostly just a handwritten ledger for our accounts. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. The floor is worn down from years of feet walking over it. We open early in the morning when the market is just waking up and stay until the shutters start coming down all along the street. It’s a busy life, and we don't have time for fancy talk or complicated business plans. We just buy, sell, and hope for a good day. It is simple but it keeps us busy.
