About Uttaran Sanskriti Mancha – Art & Craft in Barasat
This place is right on the Main Road in Berachampa. It’s a familiar sight for anyone living in this part of North 24 Parganas. We are more of a cultural center than a typical office. There’s usually some music or dancing happening in the main hall. We have a lot of local people coming in to learn traditional arts or just to participate in community events. The floor is often covered in dust from people coming in off the street, and we spend a lot of time sweeping it up. Our building has a bit of age to it, with high ceilings and old-fashioned fans that creak when they turn. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy reception desk. Usually, you’ll just find one of us sitting at a wooden table with a ledger or some flyers for the next event. The neighbors often drop by just to chat or ask about classes. It feels very much like a part of the village life here. We try to keep the traditions alive without making a big fuss about it. Sometimes the speakers for the music act up, or we run out of chairs for a big meeting, but we manage. It’s a humble setup here at Uttaran Sanskriti Mancha. We just want to keep the local culture going for the people who live around Berachampa, and we hope the younger generation takes an interest too. It's a lot of organizing and talking, but it works.
