Kamal Masala is located out in Nabapally, which is part of Barasat in the 24 Parganas North district. We’ve been operating from this same spot for quite some time now. It’s not a very large operation, just a local business trying to handle the demand for masala in this area. Our place is tucked away in the neighborhood, and usually, you can smell what we are working on before you even see the sign. The streets around here can get a bit narrow and crowded, especially on market days, but we manage. We aren’t interested in those big advertisements you see on TV. We just focus on our work here in Nabapally. It’s a lot of manual labor, grinding and packing, and the dust sometimes gets everywhere, but that’s part of the job. People in Barasat know us mostly by word of mouth. We grew up around here, so we know the people and what they like. It’s a simple life, really. We start early in the morning when it’s still a bit cool and try to finish up before the sun gets too high. There’s nothing flashy about our setup. Just some machines, a few bags of raw materials, and us. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s been that way for years and we don’t see much reason to change it now. We like the local routine and the people we see every day.
