Jain Pan Bhandar

Jain Pan Bhandar is located right at the Alod Bus Stand in Khatkad. It is a very dusty place because of all the buses and cars coming and going all day long. We are in the Tehsil-Bundi area and it gets really hot here during the peak of summer. The shop is just a small wooden stall with enough room for me to sit and work. I spend the whole day preparing betel leaves and mixing the different spices that people like. It is a fast business because most of our customers are just catching a bus and they don't have much time to talk. They want their pan quick so they can get back on the road. We keep the leaves wrapped in wet cloth so they don't dry out in the wind. My hands are usually stained with lime and betel juice but that is just part of the trade. We have been here at Khatkar Bundi for quite some time now. You see a lot of different people when you work at a bus stand. Some are coming home and some are going far away. We sell some other small items too like matches and tobacco. It is not a complicated way to make a living but it keeps us busy from morning until the last bus leaves at night.
