We have been up here at the Uri-Ii Hydro Electric Project for a while now. It is located near Kalgai village in the Baramulla district. Working in Jammu and Kashmir means dealing with some pretty cold winters and tough terrain. The office is right by the post office in Uri. Most days are just spent looking at plans or dealing with the logistics of moving materials through the mountains. It is not an easy spot to get to, but we make it work. The staff mostly just stays focused on the daily tasks. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. It's a functional space for a big project. Sometimes the power goes out or the roads get blocked when it snows, so things move a bit slower then. We have been part of this landscape for years. People around here know where to find us if they need to talk about the work being done on the site. It is a quiet village life when you step outside the gates. The air is fresh though. We just keep our heads down and handle the paperwork and the site management as it comes. It is a long way from the main office in Mumbai, but this is where the actual building happens. We try to keep things organized even when the weather isn't helping us much. That is just how it goes here.
