B.Ed College Kashmir

Down on NH-1 in Kitchama Sheeri, right by Baramulla, that’s where B.Ed College Kashmir is located. Being on the highway means there is always a lot of traffic passing by, mostly trucks and buses heading further into the valley. Our college is a bit of a hub for those who want to get into teaching. The students come from all over the district, some taking long bus rides just to get here every morning. The classrooms are usually full of people discussing lesson plans or reading through textbooks. It’s not a very quiet place because of the road, but the view of the hills around Baramulla makes up for it. The building is solid, built to handle the cold winters we get up here. During the winter months, everyone huddles inside, and in the summer, we try to spend as much time as we can in the courtyard. We have a library that smells like old paper, and it’s probably the most popular spot for students between their classes. The staff are mostly locals who have been teaching for years. We don’t have any high-tech gadgets, just blackboards, chalk, and a lot of talking. It’s a practical place for practical people. Most of our graduates end up working in the local schools around the valley, which keeps the whole thing going. It’s a steady routine day in and day out.
