Al-Hayat is based out in Sheeri, which is in the Baramulla area. It is a quiet place compared to the big cities. We work with spring water that we get right here. The air is different up here and the water is the main thing we think about all day long. We have a small building where we handle the bottling. It isn't a high-tech factory with robots everywhere. It is mostly us moving bottles around and making sure the machines are running like they should. Sheeri is a nice spot, but the winters can be very harsh with the snow and the freezing temperatures. We have to keep things running even when the roads are difficult. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website. We just focus on getting the water into the bottles and out to the people who want it. Our days are spent checking the source and watching the lines. It is a lot of walking back and forth across the shop floor. The water is cold and fresh, and we try to keep things as simple as possible. It is a small operation with just a few of us. We know each other well and we just get on with the job. It is not complicated, but it takes a lot of effort to keep everything clean and moving every single day.
