Ramesh Atta Chaki

You can find us right on the Main Road in Fatehganj at Building 175. It’s a busy spot, and there’s always people walking by. Being an atta chaki, we deal with a lot of grain and flour every single day. The machines make a bit of noise, but it’s the sound of work getting done. We’ve been in this building for quite a while. Most of the locals know us by now since they come here for their daily needs. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the day, there’s usually flour on everything, including our clothes and the floor. We don’t try to make it look like something it’s not. It’s a simple shop for simple work. The location on the main road is good because people don’t have to go out of their way to find us. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to hear, but we manage. We just take the grain, grind it up, and hand it back to the customers. There’s no big secret to how we do things. It’s just honest labor that’s been passed down. We open early and stay until the work is finished. It’s been a staple in the neighborhood for years, and we plan to keep it that way without changing much of anything. We keep the machines oiled and the bags stacked high. It’s a rhythm we’ve gotten used to over the seasons here.
