Mohammadi Handloom Fabrics

We are located in Saadat Ganj, over in the Anup Ganj area of Barabanki district. This is a place where people have been weaving for a very long time. Our shop is just one of many, but we take our work seriously. We have the looms set up and you can hear them clicking all through the day. It’s a rhythmic sound that you stop noticing after a while. We work with different kinds of threads and colors to make various fabrics. Most of it is handloom, so it’s not perfect like something from a big machine, but that’s why people like it. There are threads that might be a bit uneven here and there, but that’s just how handwork is. We spend a lot of time sitting at the looms or sorting through bundles of yarn. Barabanki is famous for this kind of work, and we are glad to be part of it. The shop itself is simple. We have piles of fabric stacked up on wooden shelves. Sometimes it’s a bit disorganized when we have a lot of orders going out. We don’t have a website or a marketing person. Most people find us by word of mouth or by just walking through Saadat Ganj. We talk to the other weavers nearby and sometimes help each other out with materials. It’s a community. We just keep the looms going and hope the colors turn out right.
