Shah Roop Chand & Sons

We’ve been operating here on Custom Road for many years. The business has been passed down through the family, which is why it’s named Shah Roop Chand & Sons. It feels like we’ve seen the whole street change around us over the decades while we stayed the same. We keep things pretty traditional in how we run things. Our shop is filled with all sorts of items, and it can feel a bit cramped when more than two or three people are inside at once. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our inventory; we just know what we have on the shelves by looking at them. Custom Road is a good place to be, right in the middle of all the local activity. We see a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us since they were small children. It’s more of a community hub for us than just a regular store. We sit on our wooden stools and wait for people to drop by. Sometimes we just talk about the weather or what’s happening in town. We don't do any big advertising or try to push products on people who don't need them. If they need something, they know we have it or can find it for them. The building is quite old and has a lot of character, even if the paint is peeling. It’s a steady life.
